  8. and what type of files are on your computer.

  10. A Batch View 1.0 [BATCH] (Robin R. Latham; $15) lets you add color pop-up
  11. menus, message windows, screen clearing functions and more to batch files.

  15. Batch File Command Extensions 1.2 [BVARS] (Scott A. Armitage; $15) is a set
  16. of batch file utilities for DOS.

  21. [GetKey] 1.5.1 (Matthew G. Moody; $0) is a batch file utility for getting a

  23. allowable keys, and case sensitivity.

  25. Cover Your Back(up) Version 2.6 [CYB26] (Mark Feldesman; $10) monitors your
  26. backup schedule and alerts you when it is time to do a full backup.

  29. [DATE] (B.J. Ball; $0) calculates the astronomical Julian number for any
  30. date from Jan 1, 4712 through Jan 1, 4000, and for converting Julian day

  33. [DBVGA] 2.0 (JAB Software; $10) is a screen blanker (non-TSR) which not
  34. only has nice graphics, but it intersperses them with witty sayings. VGA
  35. required.

  37. [ComSpeed] 1.0 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) tests the data rate of the COM1 port.

  39. [PopKey] 1.0 (Geoff Friesen; $10) is a TSR that makes it easy to adjust the

  46. [Delimit] 1.1 (Jefferson P. Carey; $25) scans columnar reports which have
  47. been written to ASCII text files and extracts specified types of data to an
  48. ASCII comma-delimited file.

  50. [Dir2Bat] 1.5 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) creates a batch file of commands and
  51. files matching your input file mask. This version is limited to batch files
  52. with four mathing file names listed. (Get PsL disk #1945 for similar, but
  53. uncrippled programs.

  55. Disk Drive Cleaner [CLEANER] (Rosenthal Engineering; $17) - software to be
  56. used with a head cleaning diskette.

  58. [Doc2Com] 1.3 (Gerald DePyper; $25) converts a text file to a COM file.

  60. [DVCPU] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) is a DesqView utility that is executed
  61. before running a program that requires full usage of the CPU's computing
  62. power. It pops up the DesqView window and sets "Share CPU when in
  63. Foreground" to "Y" or "N" depending on the parameter entered.

  65. [DVPrompt] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) makes it easy to give each DOS window
  66. opened in DesqView a different name so that you can tell them apart.

  68. [DVRun] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) is a batch file utility which sets
  69. ERRORLEVEL to 0, if DesqView is running or to 1 if it is not.

  71. [ExpndTab] 2.0 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) copies the file matching the source
  72. filespec to the destination filespec with any source file <tab> characters
  73. expanded into space characters into the destination file. (For similar

  76. [FeeFiFo] 1.4 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) enables the FIFO of a 16550A UART chip
  77. on the COM1 port.

  79. System Monitor [SYSMON] (Rosenthal Engineering; $49) monitors and reports
  80. problems early, maintains performance and resolves hardware/software and MS
  81. Windows conflicts. It has a strong virus defense, with support for single
  82. and LAN users. The program re-evaluates the system each time the computer
  83. is used by testing and extensively monitoring a number of performance and
  84. security indicators.

  88.  
  89. File Finder/Grouper 1.53 [FFG153] (Thomas G. Vavoso; $??) searches disks
  90. and archives for files based on flexible search criteria and it groups
  91. files for subsequent batch processing or cataloging. A large number of
  92. batch files have been included to invoke various program features/options.
  93.  
  94. [Filler] 1.0 ($0) creates a file of a specified size on a drive. This is
  95. sometimes needed for testing purposes.
  96.  
  97. "D" 4.01 [FOUND4] (Foundation Software; $15) is a colorful sorted directory
  98. utility. Features include embedded pattern matching, multiple filename
  99. patterns, and the ability to search a directory and all of its
  100. subdirectories as well as the entire disk. (Alternatives: PsL disk #0434 in
  101. U1_05.)

  103. [FSize] (John R Fryatt; $0) sets errorlevel to indicate if a specified file
  104. is less than, equal to or greater than a specified size.

  106. GMeter 1.3 [GMETER13] (Mike Chaney; $12) is a system benchmark program that
  107. tests the performance of your cpu, video and diskettes and tells you how
  108. many times faster than an XT your system is.

  110. [Lite] (Dale A. Nichols; $10) is a screen font with widely spaced dots.
  111.  
  112. Log-a-drive 1.0 [LOGADRV] (Nathan Becker; $0) removes the annoying "Abort,
  113. Retry, Fail?" message that appears when you try to log on a drive with no
  114. disk in it by checking to make sure that there really is a disk in the
  115. drive before it logs on. (Also see PsL disk #2394.)

  117. Move 1.20 [MOVE12] (Andrew Hardej; $10) is a file moving utility. (See PsL
  118. disk #784 for similar freeware with better features.)
  119.  
  120. [ParkHead] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) parks the heads of up to two hard
  121. disk drives to help prevent damage to the drive due to movement, power
  122. surges, etc. (Also see PsL disk #0842.)

  124. [PDel] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) securely deletes files so that they
  125. cannot be unerased. (Also see the freeware program XDel on PsL disk #1441.)

  127. [PrtScrFF] 2.3 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) appends a form-feed when you press
  128. PrtSc. This version appends a message to your print-out as a registration

  136. [Replace] 1.2 (David Cecil; $5) is a text search and replace utility.

  138. [RList] 1.1 (Gary S. Tessler; $19) prints a specified range of lines from a
  139. file to screen or printer.

  141. RnDir 2.10 [RNDIR2] (Andrew Hardej; $10) renames directories.

  143. [RndScr] is a screen blanker (non-TSR) which displays random ASCII
  144. characters.

  146. [SDel] (Birken Software; $15) deletes files in a way that they cannot be
  147. unerased.

  149. [Searchit] 1.0 (Gary M. Sandow; $0) is a text search utility. Output can be

  159. beep the computer makes to a different tone. (See PsL disk #2006 for

  163. input file mask, prompting before each file. You may also specify a search
  164. date or number of days from the current date as a filter for finding files

  168. card.

  170. What Floppy Format? 1.7e [WFF17E] (Angel Babudro; $0) is a menu shell for
  171. Christophe Hochstatter's FDFormat (which is on PsL disk #2459).

  173. [XEROG] 1.0 (Tolgathian Software; $0) will copy parts of files starting
  174. with and ending on specified byte numbers.

  176. [XMenu] 1.0 (David M. Dibble, ASP; $12) is a fast and convenient shell for
  177. all major archivers. It supports LHA, PKZIP, ARJ, ZOO, PAK, PKPAK and ARC.

  180. files matching the file mask in one or more directories.

  188. AVScan [AVS116] (Tjark Auerbach; $0) is a virus scanner which can recognize
  189. 3100 viruses.

  191. BCMD 1.0 [BCMD10] (Thomas G. Hanlin, III; $30) is a set of enhanced DOS
  192. commands plus calendar, calculator and more.

  194. DOS Utility System 1.3 [DSUTIL] (Tom Donnelly; $20) is a set of 25 DOS
  195. utilities: move files, hide files, DOS clock, etc.

  197. FileList [FLIST] (Gosta Lovgren) gathers all the filenames on your hard
  198. drive or floppy, sorts and puts them in a single file. It then checks for
  199. duplicate names and puts them in a separate file. You can then read, print
  200. or search those files. This version is limited to 500 files.

  202. FxRepeat 3.1 [FXREP31] (DataChip) automates virus scanning with F-Prot (PsL
  203. disk #3675) at specified date/time intervals. (Update.)

  205. Get, Put, Install [PUT200] (Jim Haas, ASP; $19) is a software compression,
  206. decompression, and installation set.

  208. Locate 2.0 [LOC200] (Donald Ray Hutchins, ASP; $19) searches for files,
  209. optionally filtering for file attributes, date, time, size, and (under
  210. NetWare) owner, including ranges of date, time, or size. Other features
  211. include searching for text with file, flexible wildcarding, and building
  212. batch files or running commands based on the file search.

  214. Master Disk 2.0 [MASTER] (Rosenthal Engineering; $179) is a utility for
  215. testing and preparing a disk for disk duplication. It thoroughly verifies
  216. the disk, including unused areas. It replaces the boot sector and unused
  217. directory entries to make the disk more resistant to viruses. It embeds
  218. your company's name in the boot sector.
  219.  
  220. PC Time Standard 2.0 [PCTIME] (Mark Bowler; $25) sets your system clock by
  221. calling the NIST. It also measures your clock's average drift and makes
  222. automatic adjustments. Other features include automatic DST adjustments,
  223. leap second adjustments, external event recording, and more.

  225. [Quilt] 1.32 (Cascoly Software, ASP; $20) is a non-TSR screen saver which
  226. uses quilting patters. Requires EGA/VGA. <QUILT.PCX>

  228. [Rocket] tests your IDE hard drive to see if it would benefit from the use
  229. of the commercial product, Drive Rocket.

  231. PiGAS Security 1.02 [PIGAS] (Pigas, Inc., ASP; $25) protects the
  232. information on your hard disk against unauthorized access. (Update.)

  234. Screen Saver 5.1 [SCSV] (Tom Donnelly; $23) blanks the screen on demand or
  235. after a specified period of system inactivity. Optional password protection
  236. is included.

  238. Secret Code 1.1 [SECCODE] (Eric Jarrett; $8) is a file encryption program.

  240. StrangeCryp 2.5 [STRNG25] (L. Weinman; $?) is a file encryption program.

  242. SuprMenu 5.1 [SMMENU] (David K. Rich; $35) is a DOS menu program with the
  243. general look and feel of Netware, although it can be used for non-network
  244. PCs just as easily.
  245.  
  246. Virus Simulator [VIRSIM] (Rosenthal Engineering; $49) generates controlled
  247. programs infected with signatures of viruses. It compiles and infects with
  248. a safe virus, and is valuable for showing and evaluating anti-virus
  249. security measures without contamination of the system. Infected programs
  250. can be renamed and copied to other disks and directories as bait for virus
  251. detecting programs.

  253. [ZELLER] (B.J. Ball; $0) is a date program designed to be used for
  254. historical researchers. Ideal if you need to know which calendar (Gregorian
  255. or Julian) was used at the time in the country being considered. Depending
  256. on the calendar used can effect the historical dates in question. C source
